thirteen23 worked with Ray Kurzweil and the National Federation of the Blind to design and develop Blio, the first truly accessible digital eReading platform. Through whimsical paper landscapes and sunburst backdrops, Blio offers a striking alternative to the competition.
Blio’s multi-platform vision required a design that was not only rich and interactive, but perfectly attuned to the 54 million Americans with disabilities (not including Blio’s larger audience worldwide). We made sure that Blio’s branding and visuals would work anywhere from mobile to desktop, carefully adapting the Blio brand to each platform, ensuring a seamless experience while maintaining full support for accessibility.
To date Blio’s eReader has been installed on over 10 million devices and is the default eReader for a number of public libraries across the nation.
